The MAX134CQH+D is a 3¾ digit DMM circuit in 44 pin PLCC package. It contains an ADC, auxiliary circuitry such as attenuator range switches, a piezoelectric beeper driver, an active filter, a low battery detector, analogue & digital power supplies but it does not include any display drive capability. This integrating ADC for 3¾ digit multimeters & data acquisition systems such as data loggers & weight scales. ADC's internal resolution is ±40000 counts, an extra digit is supplied as a guard digit to allow auto-zero or tare of a 4000 count displayed reading to 1/10 of a displayed count. It has 3 separate address lines and 4bit bidirectional data bus. When controlled by microprocessor, IC performs auto-ranging measurement from ±400.0mV to ±4000V full scale. External attenuator resistors are required but range switching is performed by ADC. It reduces component count & system cost by minimizing external components required for analogue portion of the system.
