AD5252 is a dual channel, 256-position I²C non-volatile memory digital potentiometer. This potentiometer perform the same electronic adjustment functions as mechanical potentiometers, trimmers, and variable resistors. It has parts’ versatile programmability which allows multiple modes of operation, including read/write access in the RDAC and EEMEM registers, increment/decrement of resistance, resistance changes in ±6dB scales, wiper setting readback, and extra EEMEM for storing user-defined information, such as memory data for other components, lookup table, or system identification information. This potentiometer is widely used in application such as mechanical potentiometer replacement, general-purpose DAC replacement, LCD panel VCOM adjustment, white LED brightness adjustment, RF base station power amp bias control, programmable gain and offset control, programmable voltage-to-current conversion, programmable power supply, sensor calibrations.

• 8bits, power-on refreshed with EEMEM settings in 300µs typ
• EEMEM rewrite time is 540µs typ, nominal resistance is 1Kohm
• Resistance tolerance stored in non-volatile memory
• 12 extra bytes in EEMEM for user-defined information
• Synchronous or asynchronous dual-channel update
• Total harmonic distortion is 0.05% at (VA = 1V rms, VB = 0V, f = 1kHz)
• Wiper setting readback, 100-year typical data retention, TA = 55°C
• –3dB bandwidth is 4kHz at RAB = 1Kohm
• Single supply voltage is 2.7V to 5.5V, dual supply voltage is ±2.25V to ±2.75V
• Operating temperature is –40°C to +105°C, packaging style is 14-lead TSSOP
